Dr. Trish Driskill, University of the Incarnate Word
Dr. Trish Driskill is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, and serves as the Accounting Society's faculty advisor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University, and has a master’s in accounting from Texas Tech University. Her PhD in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting is from Northcentral University. Her scholarship is comprised of several published journal articles, reviewer for AABRI’s Academic Journals, a reviewer of papers for several AAA accounting conferences, and numerous academic conference presentations. Trish's research interests include accounting ethics, service learning, and case studies, but her true passion is classroom teaching. She is the primary instructor in graduate accounting ethics for UIW. At UIW, Trish enjoys advising students on different career paths, and recently initiated a new accounting course in professional practice to enable students to be successful in the profession.
Trish is a CPA, with public accounting experience as an auditor for Ernst & Young, and industry accounting experience as Assistant Controller for a large regional bank. Trish joined UIW in 2015, after a decade of teaching at Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, Texas. She and her husband John live in Sabinal, Texas, where he manages their cattle ranching operations.
Dr. Henry Elrod, University of the Incarnate Word
Professor Emeritus of Accounting
Dr. Henry (“Rod”) Elrod, of Boerne, Texas, joined the accounting faculty at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, in 2000, earned his PhD in Business (Financial Management) from Northcentral University in 2010, and retired Professor Emeritus in 2016. A Texas CPA since 1982, and a CFE since 1994, Rod was Accounting Department Chair, and Founding Director of the Master of Science in Accounting program at UIW. Previously, Rod owned a public accounting practice in Houston, and had a long career managing and working in internal audit for both Stewart Title, in Houston, and Alamo Title, in San Antonio.
Born in Houston in 1946, Rod, known as Roddy to his oldest friends, graduated from Memorial High School in 1964, completed a BBA in management at TCU in 1968, followed by an MBA, also from TCU, in 1969. Rod and wife Linda Lee Lyle, of Gainesville, Texas, met playing bridge in the Student Center at TCU, and married in 1967. After two years in the US Army as a Lieutenant in the Signal Corps, Rod worked as Manager of the Membership Department for the Houston Chamber of Commerce, until joining Stewart Title Company in 1974. Rod and Linda (also a retired CPA) have lived in Boerne for over 25 years, where they enjoy playing bridge, and, of course, rooting for the Horned Frogs. Rod plays jazz guitar, is a self-taught pianist, a life-long philatelist, and an amateur magician. A 3rd Degree Black Belt and Certified Songahm Tae Kwon Do Instructor, Rod is a former Co-owner of the Taekwondo Club of Boerne. At UIW, Rod particularly enjoyed teaching accounting and accounting ethics, and loved his association with both colleagues and students. He has written or co-authored many published financial investment articles, and over thirty academic papers.
